Mantel Mania....Christmas Style! Linky Party fun!

Hey guys!
I'll be linking up with the following ladies on different
Christmas themed linky parties Nov 30- Dec 9th!

Today's linky party is Christmas Mantels with Layla over
so lets start!

(and before you scold my spelling of mantel, it's proper to spell it both ways, I looked it up! lol)

I took this first picture after stripping off all my fall decorations, so it's VERY nakie!

For my Christmas Mantel, I pulled out the set
of cloches with stands my mom made for me...
for directions on how they were made, go here.

You can see it's pretty, but it's plain....

Sooo.......

I filled them with gold toned ornaments!
I just turned the cloche upside down,
filled it with ornaments and put the base on it
and then carefully flipped it over...
walla!

Next on the mantel, I laid out a bed of green garland with lights first,
then layered in the cloches, large candle sticks with burgandy candles
that picks up on the mat color and also the color of the
poinsettias I placed in the garland.

As you can see, I also nestled in some burgandy colored beaded picks, and
glitter dipped pine cones....
they add some depth and also pick up on the cranberry color again.

To give the mantel a little sparkle, I added some
glitter covered gold ornaments along with some shiny gold ornaments in
different sizes to give it a little more interest.

When the lights are on, the mantel sparkles in the twinkling lights...
SO festive!

One last look and I hope you'll go to
The Lettered Cottage and
link up your Christmas Mantel too!

Have a great week!

Uncle Carson!
I have to tell you something funny he said!
He said, "dad I went into the hospital
a brother and came out an uncle."
He was VERY excited!
:)

Here she is the next day...

This is Uncle Lincoln.
:)

Here she is holding TJ's hand...(well, finger)..
look how tiny!

Just had to share and, let's face it, gloat a little!
;-)
This is our treasure for the week...

Today's Mama has an amazing giveaway!

What an amazing contest going on over at Today's Mama...you have to go check this out!!!

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama (link to: http://bit.ly/tmwishlist) and GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family?   My holiday wish is for everyone to be healthy, happy and remember the true reason for the season.

2. What is your Christmas morning tradition?  Oh....let's see, getting up at around 4 AM to rip open presents! :0)

3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?  Well, it's not really for me, but it would be for my husband to have his dream job. You see, he's an AHhhhmazing drummer and his one dream in life is to play professionally. He already has an endorsement deal with Sonor Drums, but I want him to be able to play for a living. :)

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money? We make a gingerbread house every year, we bake cookies, tell the Christmas Story by the nativity scene, and just bask in the warmth of family and friends.

5. What games did you play with your family growing up?  We didn't really play a lot of games...we did crafts..explains a lot doesn't it?! LOL

6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood? Having my little boy put out the nativity scene like I always helped do and also making cookies and decorating the house.

7. Where would you go for a Christmas-away-from-home trip? Italy...my hubby wants to go back! (he's been, I haven't) :)  OR  Bethlehem. :)

8. Check out GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?  A Wii, or Kinect and a DSi

You guys should hop on over and enter too!

Wanna see the Gold in Fort Knox? Treasures & Trinkets Thursday

Yeah, we wanted to see the gold too,
but they wouldn't let us!

;0)

But we did get to go to the Patton Museum!
(we also got to see a full size replica of what the gold bars look like)

Outside the museum....can you see in the bench
it says, "Patton Museum".

Here's some military memorabilia from Iraq....

Different uniforms....

This was Gen Patton's sweater he
got while in the 1912 Olympics
in Stockholm, Sweden.
He placed 5th out of 42
in the Pentathlon.

Here's the full size replica of a gold bar
in Fort Knox.

This is a fun piece!
It is the model of Fort Knox
used in the movie Goldfinger.
It was used by Goldfinger to brief his henchmen on the attack
of the depository.

Some of Patton's military items.

His jeep...

This was after a trip to the gift shop...
Carson got an AK-47
YIKES!
:0)

My hubs pointing out the tanks to the boys...
have I mentioned what  HUGE
history buffs all my guys are?!

I think this is a neat shot!

My honey thinks this sign is funny....
:)

We were a little disappointed because they have moved
out so much of the stuff that used to be here.
They are relocating everything to another place, so
we didn't get to see much, but
hey it was free so we couldn't complain!

Time spent with my family
is my treasure for this week...
what's yours?

Link up something you love, or
anything you like.
:)

HUGS!
Missy
