What’s my BIG project?

I’ve been teasing some of you that follow me on facebook and twitter about a BIG project that I’ve started in my home, and I really can’t WAIT to share it!!  You ready to find out what it is?

I’ve been re-modeling my laundry room….and oh what  a HUGE difference it’s making!

I had no intention of re-doing that room until we bought these….

Aren’t they just lovely! (sorry the pics are a little dark..I took them at night in a room with no window..told you I was excited to show you all!)

We got such a great deal on them, and I’m so glad we went ahead and got them because our water and electric bills have gone down drastically.

I LOVE the steam setting on the dryer….it steams your wrinkles out…cause I HATE to iron! Smile

Anyway…stay tuned to my next post…there’s gonna be a lot of cutting of wood,  laying of floors, re-purposing and re-doing furniture and SO much more!  I’m SO excited!! Oh…and just so you know, I did this entire room by myself, so I’ll be showing you step by step, how to’s for each project so you can do these things yourself too!
Here’s a BEFORE of my laundry room……we had just sold our old washer and dryer and were about to move them out. Let me say, this room has NOTHING in it that’s in this picture now! (except that little white garbage can!)

I can’t wait to show you guys how this room is coming along..but for now I’m going to leave you with some pictures I used as inspiration.

So stay tuned to see how I took elements from each of these pictures  (and MORE) to turn my horrible laundry room into a blissful place to work!
Did I say I was excited?!…cause I am! Ohhh, I can’t wait!
If you’re not a follower….you can subscribe by email by entering your address on my sidebar, or you can just follow by clicking the follow button!  Always glad to meet new faces! more thing! I’m guest posting for Gail today at
My Repurposed Life…so go on over and see what I built!

Sorry that I didn’t have Treasures and Trinkets up today!  My hubs and I have been at the District Council for the Assemblies of God in KY for that last couple of days and we didn’t get home until noon today.  He plays drums for the A/G council each year and this year was extra special because he was recently made the new music minister at our church…God is really moving in our lives!  Treasures and Trinkets will resume next Thursday, but stay tuned for a post coming tomorrow…I’ll be telling you about the BIG project I have started in my home.  OH, and I’ll be guest posting for Gail at My Repurposed Life, so watch out for that too.
Again, sorry I didn’t have the party link up, but if I know you guys, you’ll forgive me.

Have you taken time out lately to thank HIM for your many blessings?

This is my son at church…just look at all those little heads bowed in prayer… pure, so innocent….

Matthew 18:3  …“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
We’ve been talking about the Convoy of Hope in our church’s an organization that feeds starving children all over the world. (we gave our entire Easter offering to them).  It’s made me think about how truly blessed we are.  We take so many things for granted, even necessary things like food and water.  Let’s all stop and be grateful today for the many blessings that He bestows on us daily….and be as little children with pure and humble hearts.

Have a blessed day!

Happy Easter!

Don’t forget what Easter is truly all about.
Because of the cross and the empty tomb,
we can have everlasting life.

Does Jesus rule and reign in your heart?
Love you guys

Easter Mantel and Treasures and Trinkets Linky Party!

It’s that time of the week again..time for Treasures and Trinkets Linky Party!
Easy rules! Link up something you love, a craft, room re-do etc,  and link back to my page. That’s it!
Ok, now to the fun stuff! I am so excited to show you my Easter/Spring Mantel.  I started with a very blank mantel, because I hadn’t had time to do anything to it since Valentines day…it’s been very naked!
Surprised smile
Here it is after I did some tweaking to it this week………

          Easter Mantel
I replaced my big rose picture with this lovely old shabby window for Spring.  There’s a story behind this window that I think is quite funny.  My mom was going through a drive-thru of a local bank with my dad and looked over and saw a guy with a truck load of these windows. She rolled down her window and asked him if he was going to get rid of them…he said, “yeah, you want some”?  So they pulled out and unloaded about 10 of them into my dad’s truck!  (and you wonder where I get my trash to treasure fun!)
I love this little detail on all the windows…the cute little curved part on the bottom…..just so sweet!

I think the bunnies are so cute…they are like bobble heads, only their entire bodies bobble!

There are two of them. The one above is dressed in blue, and this one in green….

They have really cute details, like this cut glass mosaic accent…..

I hung a wreath decorated with eggs over the old window, on top of an antique doily trimmed in blue.

I added a couple of pink candles on my candleholders that I painted. (they used to be brass)
I also added a sparkly, pink butterfly to my candleholder…

I also added a creamware platter…..

and a cute little sign that says “Home…The Perfect Nest”

I just love how it all came together…..

Easter Decorating!

Hey everyone, hope you’re having a blessed day!
To be honest, I’m a little more than tired today…we had some storms roll through about 2:30 am and they woke me up…..I’ve been awake ever since and I look something like this today…..

My attitude may, or may not, reflect the look on that chick’s face as well.  :0)  hee hee hee
Today I thought I’d show you my Easter Tree that I decorated for my kitchen.  I bought this little feather tree replica at our local Peddler’s Mall and I use it on several different occasions.  I decorate it for Christmas, Valentines Day and Easter…and if I’m feeling particularly spunky, the 4th of July.  (but I’m usually craving change by then and stick the tree in the closet until winter!)
Here’s my nekked little tree before I do anything to it! Smile(those are little pink rosebuds on the end of the branches)

Here it is all decked out in it’s Easter attire…..

I love all the little bunnies around the bottom and the stuffed one on top!

Here’s where I put my little chick that has attitude…..

I found these beauties at the Dollar Store last year…they are covered with teeny tiny little clear beads that just make them glisten!

Well that’s it…my Easter Tree Eggstravanza! How do you decorate for Easter? Or do you?

Easter Tree
I’ll be showing you my Easter Mantel on Thursday, so come back for Treasures and Trinkets linky party!!
Have a Beautiful day!

How to Have a Mario Party! Treasures and Trinkets Linky Party!

Welcome to Treasures and Trinkets Linky Party! Link up something you love, then link back to me.  Yep, it’s that easy!

You’re invited! (to see what we did for our Mario party!) I promise this is the last Mario party post! lol
These are the invitations we used for my son’s 10th birthday party!  We got them from Amazon for $3.59 for 8.

I decided I wanted to make the little brick boxes the coins pop up out of on all the Mario games.  I found a printable cut-out HERE, and enlarged it a little on my computer.

All you do is put a little glue on all tabs, except the lid and you end up with this….

I put a few chocolate coins in each box…it was a HUGE hit!

I think it turned out really cute!

I knew my son wanted to do a craft at his party, so I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up these cups for a buck each.

cup craft

The top unscrews like this……..

Then you can decorate the paper insert …..

We used these…..

Mario Stickers

so the cups would look like this………

I also found an image of Mario and wrote Happy Birthday…

then, I printed them and cut them out and used them as candy bar wrappers…perfect for the little snack sized Hershey bars!…

I ordered these favor boxes from the same people on Amazon that had the invitations. $2.99 for four, so I bought two packs.

Here’s the loot we put in them! Most of it’s from the Dollar Tree!

Remember these? If you’re new to my blog, you can find the tutorial to make these HERE.

I even found this Mario candy at the Dollar Tree…who knew!

I used some low pile, fake fur to cut out mustaches and then sprayed the back with repositionable adhesive like this…..

I sprayed it on some wax paper so they wouldn’t stick…

Here is our table setting…please excuse the pictures, the lighting was really funky that day for some reason.  I used a blue table cloth from the Dollar Tree and red plates and cups, which I layered with blue napkins and also blue cutlery. I had there little coin boxes and hats at each place setting too.  I bought some little scatter stars on clearance at Party City for .50 and sprinkled them around.

Our centerpiece came from Amazon as well..same people as the other stuff above.  They had some really cute stuff!

I used a printable from the web as a “placemat”.  It’s of Mario and Luigi….I just googled Mario print out and found it.  If you’d like my tutorial on how to make the hat, go HERE.

For a little extra added fun, I drew Mario and Luigi and had my little man color them, I think they turned out sweet and now he has them in his room.  I just hung them up on the blinds in our dining room.

Here are the VERY well behaved group of boys that came to my son’s party!  They just found their Mario and Luigi lollipops…just look at those smiles!

We fed the boys pizza……….

and Mario mushroom cupcakes! For the tutorial on this go HERE.

My little man received SO many cool presents, but I think his favorites were the stuffed Mario, Luigi and Yoshi that his dad and I found him. (also on Amazon! lol)  Can you tell he likes them…look at that face!

Last picture, I promise!  This is the group with their hats, mustaches and silly faces, they really had a ball and I had so much fun putting all this together for my guy~!
