Card Making & New Toys PLUS Treasures and Trinkets Thursday!!!

It's time for Treasures and Trinkets Thursday linky party!
Woo hoo!
Ok, so if you read my last post, you know I went to an EIGHT hour
card making party at a friends house and I thought I'd show you
some of the cards I made while I was there. You can link up anything you like, it doesn't have to be paper arts. :)

But FIRST, I want to show you my new toys!
I bought a Cuttlebug die cutter & paper embosser ......

AND a cricut machine!~
The friend that was having the card making party
got a new Cricut Expression for her bday
and sold me her "old" one (had only been used a few times)
for 40 BUCKS! I was so THRILLED!
It didn't come with any cartridges, but I took care of that pretty quick...
can you say EBAY?!

:-)

Here's my Cricut...isn't she pretty!

Here's one of the first things I made with her after I got home....

I just LOVE that machine!

Here's a sampling of cards I made the
first few days!

ENJOY!

Can you tell I had some fun?!
Can't wait to get back at it again!

Have a great day!

Zuppa Tuscano! YUM YUM!

Hello my friends, just wanted to let you know I'm still kicking. :) My surgery was a success, but I'm still sore and uncomfortable, but wanted to let you know I'm ok.
I did do this post for you...it's short and sweet, but
it does give you a great recipe to try.
Hope I'll be back to normal soon!
Love you guys!

I just had to tell all my peeps (that's you!) about this great website I just discovered.  You guys probably already know about it and I'm just WAY behind the times...happens to me a LOT! LOL  It's called copykat.com.  It's a website with recipes from your favorite restaurants! Oh happy day!

:o)

I found out about the website while I was at a friends house last weekend, for an EIGHT hour card making bonanza!  We had a blast!  While I was there she served this AMAZING soup that's a knock off of one of Olive Garden's soup choices.  It's called Zuppa Tuscano!

It has italian sausage, bacon, onions, garlic, potatoes, chicken broth, heavy cream and kale in it and boy oh boy is it YUMMY!!  :)    I loved the soup so much, I  decided to make a pot of my own! I was so excited about making it, I forgot to take pictures, but thought I'd do this post anyway, just so I could give you the link to the recipes.

Here's the link, but I've also included the recipe
 from the website too.

I served it with a Tuscan Boule bread and a variety of cheeses...
everyone here loved it! It was quiet at our table...
that must tell you something with three boys eating, they loved every bite!

Hope you make it and enjoy it as much as we did!

Hugs!
Missy
:)

I'll be showing you some of the cards I made at that
8 hour card making party next,
so stay  tuned!!! :)
We had so much fun!

A Bit of a Break....

Treasures and Trinkets will be a little different this week. I'm going to leave it open for a little longer than normal  because of an upcoming event.  I'm sharing a little bit of personal information today, so please bear with me. :)  I wanted to let you know that I'm having surgery on Thursday and might be away from my blog for a little bit.  It's nothing too serious, but still major surgery, so I might be away for a few days.  I'll try to get my tushy back into gear as soon as possible, but I have no idea how I'm going to react to any of it, so just be patient with me. :) I'll give you an update as soon as I can.  In the mean time, I'm going to leave you a linky party to link up to so you can link up anything you'd like while I'm away. :)  I love you guys and hope you'll say a little prayer for me.

 HUGS!!

Goodwill Bathroom light fixture before and after!! Love me a project!

Wanna see what I've been doing?
:0)

I went to Goodwill with my little guy the other
day and found this fixture for $3 bucks!

I know it's brass, but I was attracted to the porcelain ends.
See, aren't they pretty?

I bought it for my boy's bathroom to replace one of these.

This is not a pleasant light fixture to meet at 6am....
200 watts glaring in your face that early is not nice!

Sooo....to make this "new" light fixture work in their
bathroom it needed a make-over!
Yea...a PROJECT!
:0)

First I went to the store and picked up three of these....

They were only $3 bucks each at Walmart!

Next I took the porcelain pieces off and taped off the receptacles with tape.

Next, I roughed up the surface with a regular old
sanding block.  This is to help the primer to stick.

Speaking of primer...
this is what I used,
Krylon, indoor/outdoor white primer.

I gave everything a couple of good coats
of primer.

I let it all dry really well
and gave it a couple of coats
with Krylon Brushed Nickel.

Here it is all painted and put together.

OH, did you know you can buy the little
set screws for the globes?!
I bought them at Lowes and also gave them a coat of the
brushed nickel. You get them in the lighting dept.

See why I just loved the little porcelain ends..
they look so much better with the nickel!

I got it all installed on a Sunday afternoon after church..
it took about 15 minutes!
:0)

Here's some pics of it all installed...

Now, I just need to do something with that big ol' slab mirror.
:-/

Hope you guys like my
before and after of my Goodwill goody!

Have a blessed day

FALL DECOR...part 2 & Treasures and Trinkets Linky party!

I have been busy as a bee getting ready for fall and I want to
see what you guys have been doing too. SO link up your fall goodies or any goodies for that matter and let me see what cha' got!

:o)

I have some wonderful friends that I purchased sweet corn from
this summer and they lovingly donated some corn
stalks for foddershocks.
Gotta love free!

I decided to put them on each side of my front door.
I had them out in the yard at first, but they
were competing with my topiaries, so I just
moved the topiaries into the garage and went with the foddershocks!

Here they are...

I already had my scarecrow that's in front of the foddershock,
so more free fall decor!

Do you know where foddershocks originated?
The Amish (and farmers) used to take the leftover corn
stalks from the fields and cluster them together
in these teepee shapes for the cows to feed on. Who knows who decided they'd make cool
fall decor, but I'm glad somebody did it, cause
I Love em'!

Here's my little scarecrow....I got him
on clearance at Home Interiors...I think he was $9.00 and
my mums are from Lowes...another $9.00.
See the little pumpkin?
He is actually a foam type jack o lantern...
I just turned the face around....I've had those
things for years!

The sign on the front door also was a clearance item
from Home Interiors....something like $5.00.
I had it hanging on the door by itself, but it looked too skimpy
so I did this...

I put an apple wreath behind it...sorry the pic
is dark, I was took this one by spotlight at night!

Here are some more pics of my fall decor..
I spent $23.00 on everything!
:0)

Hope you enjoyed my day and night tour of my outside fall decor.
If you haven't started to decorate, now's the time...
fall is coming!
Yippee!!

Blessings and Hugs

Decorating for Fall!

We had three glorious days of cooler weather and it
put me in the mood to decorate for FALL!

We've had 40something days
of 90+ degree temps, so those three
days were a welcome sight!

I AM READY FOR FALL!
(but let's get one thing straight...
I am NOT ready for winter, so don't even hint at it! If you
even speak of it, I'll pretend I'm not listening!)
:0)

I spent the last two days decorating.
I started by going to Walmart and the Dollar Tree
to pick up SUPPLIES.

I bought these from the Dollar Tree

and these from Walmart...

1st primer

then, these wonderful
brushed metallic paints in scrumptious
fall colors...

Sparkling Canyon

Champagne Nouveau

and of course, oil rubbed bronze.
(already had that one in the supply closet!)

I took all my little pumpkins and gourds...

and gave them a coat or primer
like this...

I didn't even wait for the primer to dry before
I started painting them with my brushed metallic paints.

see...

oil rubbed bronze

sparkling canyon

champagne nouveau

I painted LOTS of them...

THEN, I used them all around the house
like this...

I put them on my mantel in
my glass hurricanes made from Dollar Tree
vases and candle holders.
(still gonna add some faux cranberries for a pop of color, unless you can give me another wonderful idea as to what to put in there to add some color!)
Have you seen  the hurricanes?....
they're all over blogland and they're
VERY EASY to make!
(I made three)

You start with this hurricane/vase

and candle holders..

(both from the Dollar Tree)

Then you just use two part epoxy and glue them together!
(from Walmart)

and you get this....

Told ya it was easy..and they're only
$2 bucks each!

Now back to our fall decor.
:0)

I also used my pumpkins here....

Aren't they the cutest!
I paired them with pine cones and leaves....
Can't you just feel the chill in the air!
FALL....it's coming!!!

:0)

Stay tuned to see more Fall Decor...
only this time it's
OUTSIDE!

Blessings and Hugs!
