Church Nursery Accessories

How adorable are these knobs?!

cheap knobs

I have to tell you about a GREAT company, D. Lawless Hardware.  They have so many wonderful knobs, pulls and tons of other goodies! I can’t say enough good things about this company!

I ordered six zebra knobs for the changing table I got from Walmart, and I think it turned out so sweet. So much better than the plain little while knobs that came on it. :0) The little zebra knobs were only $3.08 each…I couldn’t find anything in any store that even came close to that price!

I also ordered pulls for the cabinets in the nursery and the nursery bathroom too.  I picked out an antique brass pull because all the knobs and hinges in there are that metal.  I found these, I thought they kind of had a safari-ish feel to them too…and they were only $1.49 each! I’m tellin’ ya, D Lawless is a great place to find hardware!

Here’s what the cabinets looked like before the pulls….

Then I bought some chalkboard vinyl online and used my cricut machine to cut out some labels. Safari Crackers anyone?!  LOL

Church Nursery Decorating Ideas… CUTE!~

Hey Ya’ll!  Last time I showed you this picture, and told you I’d tell you what I was doing with the big square……

color blocking

WELLLLL….it’s going to have this inside it!! (after it’s painted green, of course!)  :0)

vinyl giraffe cut out

You wanna see??

Here ya go!

safari decorating ideas

Isn’t is just adorable!  I ordered the giraffe from Etsy for $25.00, and I really think it just makes the room!

The same day we worked on this, one of our church guys (Jim) did this!  See the white on the cabinet door? It’s marker board! I found it at Lowes and he took it home and cut it down for me. I used double sided carpet tape to hang it and it worked great!  Where the old marker board used to hang (there in the blank space beside the cabinet) we did something else.

how to make your own white board

SEE!! All new shelving! Yay!! Such a better use for all that space than where one white marker board used to hang! :0)

Next time I hope to show you the great hardware, and accessories we did for the nursery!  Yay!

Church Nursery Update---we have COLOR!!

We have COLOR in the church nursery!!!

We used the Sherwin Williams Georgian Bay color on the bottom of the walls, all the way around the room. I measured it off and put Frog Tape around the room so the top edge would be perfect, and also would leave a white stripe under the frog tape.

I then went around the room and measure up five inches and put another strip of Frog Tape. (I used a level when I was measuring to make sure it was straight)  We painted in between the two pieces of frog tape with the Sherwin Williams Lime Ricky paint.

how to paint stripes

After we put a couple of coats of the green paint on, we started pulling off the Frog Tape.  You really want to pull the tape off while the paint is wet so it doesn’t pull off any paint.  Here’s a picture of the white stripe it left between the green and the blue paint when we pulled off the tape. :0)

I decided to put three stripes on the focal wall so we taped it all off at the top and bottom and put a couple of coats of blue……………………

When the blue paint dried, I taped off a few inches in from the top and the bottom and painted the green stripe.  Isn’t that a cute wall!! :0)
OHHHH…and check out that new floor!!  SO much better than that carpet!

Ok….in this picture I’m taping off a large square, but you’ll have to wait until next post to see what it’s for. :0)

Come back for the next post to see what’s going to go in the big square! Any guesses?

Church Nursery Update!

We have finally begun to paint! Tammy, Kim, Gina, Tiffany, David and I all painted on the nursery to get it started!  (great friends!)  Gina and Kim knocked out the first coat on the ceiling one night on their own, and the rest of us came in and took turns painting until everything had at least one coat!

I cannot tell you what a HUGE difference it made painting the
ceiling in that room! You see, it has wooden beams up there to hide where it used to be cut into different rooms, and they were two different colors.  It really cut the room up visually…now the room just flows into one nice space with no separation!

In this picture, you can see we also came in and tore up the carpet. A great group of guys from the church came in and had it out in 30 minutes flat, then we pried up all the staples that were left from the padding, and started painting again!  We are making progress!! (this is David giving the ceiling it’s 2nd coat)

Since the carpet was torn up we went on a shopping trip to find some flooring.  We found this piece at Lowes, it’s called Fireside Oak and we bought it to match the existing trim in the room.

Lowes

I found these cute little baskets at Walmart while grocery shopping….I picked up 9 of them to put the kiddos items in when they check into the nursery. :0)

cute ideas using bins

I also found these cute bins at Garden Ridge…I’ll show you what we’ll do we these later!

cute bins

I also found these soap dispensers at Walmart for $6.00 each.  Right now we have the disposable hand soap dispensers and they aren’t that cute…..I love little details like this in a room. :0)

cute soap dispensers

OH…I ordered two beds and a changing table from Walmart!

Here’s a picture of them from their website. Aren’t they sweet!  They were really affordable too! The beds were $119.00 each and the changing table was $179.00.

I can’t wait to see this whole nursery come together! :0)

Next time I hope we’ll have more of the painting done….there’s some serious pops of color going to be going on in this room soon!
