Christmas is Coming!

Hey Everyone! Are you getting ready for Christmas?!
I'm finally not feeling so totally overwhelmed! My decorations are up, my gifts are almost completely purchased, and the ones I do have are wrapped. I'm finished with Christmas cards, and have mailed out the ones I can't hand out at church. I feel like I'm at least on track. :0)
We're having a big Music Ministry party at our house on December 15th, so I have to start focusing on that.  My house is SO dirty! (ok, maybe I am a smidge overwhelmed on that part, but it'll be ok...I just keep telling myself to breathe...there's lots of time) I also have a friend coming over to help me the day before the party, so that will help a lot. :0)
We have some Christmas traditions we do every year that we haven't exactly started on.  We ALWAYS make a gingerbread house, and of course bake cookies.

This is my little man, age 4, making cookies with me :0)  (I can't believe he's already 11!!!)

We also always get our boys advent calendars.  This year, I got my little guy a Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar...he'll love that...just not sure how I'll incorporate the Bible into it yet! lol  Gonna have to use my imagination!
What traditions do you all do every year?  I 'd love to hear from you and maybe even use some of yours to start new traditions in our home.

Blessings!
Missy

What a precious picture of your little guy! Mine are now 19, 20 and 22...sniffle sniffle:( Babies are all grown.

I used to get them advent calendars also. Something really fun is an English tradition of Christmas Crackers, kids love them! Cost Plus World Market sells them so I usually get mine there:)

Me again Missy! I'm not sure if it's possible buy stuff online from Cost Plus but I know Amazon sells them. Just put Christmas crackers in their search bar and they have a pretty big selection:)

OH, WELCOME BACK!!!! I have been so worried about you and your family....so glad you are feeling a little less overwhelmed.

Star Wars has always seemed to have kinda' a Biblical undertheme to me....Darth Vadar is from the dark side (he was like a fallen angel). Emporer Palpatine is like the Devil. Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke "the force is with you", which always seemed to me, to be a reference to God, because they are the good side. Maybe I read more into it than George Lucas meant, but that's what I saw.

My word the last 2 years has been SIMPLIFY. It works great this time of year for me! Maybe next year I'll have more time--I will retire at the end of this school year and I'm so excited. I prayed and listened for God's answer. Still waiting for what comes next. He hasn't revealed that to me yet. It will be perfect, though!♥♫

I am all decorated, too...but haven't done one other thing! I don't worry too much about it, though...it always seems to get done lol! Love the photo of your son!

Oh my goodness, what a precious little guy. Just look at that adorable smile. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling a little less overwhelmed. I can totally relate, I'm not sure how to deal with how "much" there is out there in the world to take in, and with kids and all, even adult kids, it's still crazy!

Missy,
Your little man looks sweeter than the cookies he was making! I am tired just reading everything you've accomplished already. I'm happy you have a friend that will be helping you prepare for your party the day before. We always give the little ones advent calendars.
Your Friend,
