The last of my summer garden and Treasures and Trinkets Thursday!

It's supposed to get down to 32 degrees tonight, so I went outside
and gleaned all the tomatoes I could get from my plants.

See!.....

Do you know tomatoes will continue to ripen inside the house?
Just put them in a windowsill and wait, OR

Wrap the bigger ones individually in newspaper
and store them in a dry, cool place and they will ripen slower...
you can have garden tomatoes for Thanksgiving!

Anyone have any good recipes that call for tomatoes?!!!
:0)

Link up!
Could be something you love, a recipe (uh hum...maybe a tomato one!) or anything at all...just link!

Hugs
Missy

Hi Missy...I need to go out and harvest all of my tomatoes that are hanging on the vines outside. I also have peppers still coming and a fig tree that came from Italy originally(via hubby's family) that finally has been giving us ripe figs! I will also have to find ways to eat all of our still green tomatoes....pass on any ideas, ok? Have a great day!~Hugs, Patti

We had a frost last night, and with the rain, I forgot about the last few tomatoes...but we did get most of the apples we had left harvested before it hit. A hard freeze is coming this week, so everything will be done...time for spruce tops!

Hi Missy, I love love tomatoes and of course there are so many recipes, but last month, I had a treat in eating some meditierranean food. Along with all the pita, humus, and grilled meats, they added simple grilled tomatoes. All they did was put them on the grill, not sure if they added olive oil, but the taste was incredible! All the juices became so flavorful, and the char of the outside really was fantastic.

Missy, I just brought some tomatoes home just like yours from my Mom's and Dad's garden. I'm going to wrap mine in newspaper and store in a paper bag until they are ripe!
